  • 33 Presidential Candidates and 9,632 Parliamentary Candidates from 218 political parties
  • 25 Million voters will decide on 500 parliamentary seats at 46,718 polling stations
  • 60,000 ballot boxes will be opened at 11,206 counting centres
  • 5,000 tonnes of elections material has been shipped to the country on more than 50 flights from South Africa at cost $50 million.
  • 1,200 tonnes is the weight of the ballot papers alone
  • $422 Million is what the election is costing ; largely funded by the EU.
  • 17,500 UN forces in the country, costing $1.1 Billion per Year.
